We’re now looking for a Senior Software Engineer for the Seller Domain to help us continue developing Hemnet. For us, how you think as an engineer matters more than which programming languages you’ve worked with.

About the role 🍏
At Hemnet, we believe selling your home should be a positive and successful experience. The Seller domain builds the services that help homeowners maximize their opportunities in the housing market.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Seller domain, you’ll be part of an experienced, cross-functional team working across both user-facing features and backend systems. You’ll take ownership beyond day-to-day development contributing to technical direction, shaping our products, and ensuring we build solutions that create real value for Sellers.

Our current stack includes Ruby and Node.js on the backend and Next.js on the frontend. That said, we’re pragmatic about technology and see it as something that evolves over time. We value curiosity and adaptability the ability to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and systems is more important to us than experience with any specific tech stack.

Who we think you are 🤩
We believe you’re an experienced engineer who:

• You have several years of experience building and maintaining production-grade web systems.

• You’re comfortable reasoning about architecture, scalability, and long-term maintainability, and you pick up new technologies and codebases quickly.

• You care deeply about code quality, clarity, and testability.

• You enjoy collaborating with others and actively share your knowledge with the team.

You don’t need to know everything from day one, but you’re confident in your role as an engineer and motivated by continuous learning.

My name is Johan Boberg, I joined Hemnet in June, prior to Hemnet I worked at Blocket for many years. I have a long career behind me as Engineering Manager and before that, as Backend Developer.
